Generational Voices, aka GenVoices, is a growing non partisan pan-Nigerian movement of persons aged 18 to 40. It also embraces those over 40 who serve as mentors and supporters. It was conceived as a means to convert online engagement into practical and sustainable change.

A key lesson from Occupy Nigeria was that social media chatter and street protests were not sustainable solutions to Nigeria’…s problems. It became clear that without political participation and active engagement in government, our generation will continue to be denied the chance to make widespread and definitive impact.

GenVoices is working to birth political, economic, social and technological solutions to national challenges by encouraging more members of our generation to participate in politics and make a difference in government and governance.

Through our 40Under40 Dialogues series, GenVoices creates opportunities across Nigeria and the Diaspora for individuals to come together to share their desires, dreams, concerns and solutions for Nigeria.

Our flagship project revolves around a yearly landmark event. The theme for 2014 is 100KVoices. On January 18, 2014, at least 100,000 young people will convene at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos from across Nigeria to discuss our future and proffer solutions. Thousands more are expected to participate via the live broadcast and viewing centres across the world.
